SAFE PLACE

by Anton Pedos, 2024

From the beginning of the full-scale invasion Ukrainians started to pay more and more attention to urbanism and the environment around. It’s always like this. You start to appreciate the things that you are losing.

Every new day in Ukraine makes the topic of the home/house/town/city/region more and more important.

To feel safe.
To have a place of safety. Most of ukrainians who you met here in Vilnius either lost their homes or not able to return.

They were filming from the windows of their houses the hits of the bombshells, they were taping their windows with tape to prevent them breaking by the soundwave.

These people were hiding in a bathtub. Most likely they were sleeping there. They had peace there. Somebody met a death there.

The place. The rule of three walls. “Prylit”(Rocket hit). So many more of the things/terms that you as a stranger will most likely not know. To the good.

Some of you will say “Ah, again”.
